We Hold These Truths to Be Expedient

All men are created equal. After that, shit happens. They have the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. On a good day. But what is happiness? Nobody knows. Choice - freedom - invariably makes some persons followers, cogs in the machine of life. Others are managers or masters. Who's to say. 

Over all is ownership. A person is nothing, uninvested in life, without property. Those with property have a larger stake, naturally, and greater incentive to see the society succeed. Noblesse oblige kicks in, one would hope. Average citizens will be cared for. But it's up to the owners. Their prerogative is absolute.

The rabble can't be running things. Look at where that got us. They chose enslavement.
