Democrats were factionalists within their party, starting in the 70s, I believe, figuring out what they stood for in changing times. They supported a lack of factionalism for the country. Inclusion. Fair play. Limits to corporate power, private wealth and privilege.
Republicans were the other way around. They became a unified fighting machine as a party but wanted factionalism for the country. Division, polarization and, ultimately, a class war. Republicans won. We're a mess. The U.S.A. is now a factional country.
And China is a unified fighting machine. They mean to win. And they will.
