Republicans are insisting in the most forceful way, as eliminationists, there's no room in our society for anyone unlike them and they mean business. Call it overshoot, as I think it is. They feel the need to establish their absolute dominance and smash all resistance into the ground. Then, maybe, they'll lighten up and stop killing people for no reason but everything is on the table.
This is Calvinist and imperial. Fundamentalist Calvinists strip the meaning out of life give you back enough to make it bearable, if you're lucky. Imperialists take all the money and resources by the assumption of arbitrary authority since they, too, are the elect and favored by God and then give enough back to you to keep you alive, if you're lucky, in testament to their beneficence.
