I have been fielding questions from followers about communicating with Republicans in this dark age. Firstly, you must allow them to communicate with you, bridging the gaps of unreason. Focus on their mentality, and the two d’s: dissociation and degradation.
Resist the temptation to cry “that is not responsive” as though you are in court. Republicans have blurred, if not obliterated, the lines between literal and symbolic communication. Take Sarah Sanders. She MIGHT not be LITERALLY humping or sucking Trump’s knob before she waddles off to church to praise Jesus. It doesn’t matter. Sarah has defined the terms by insisting on symbolic communication, in place of coherence and intelligibility, in a venue in which communicating inscrutably is inappropriate, so it is up to us to meet her there.
We have no choice. She controls the venue. We must therefore both understand her and judge her symbolically since she controls the field and defines the terms. Knob-humping comes in at this point, as rendering what is actually going on in (probably) non-literal terms that which cannot be defined and understood literally. In a non-literal world Sarah is not lying, she is expressing the greater, dissociative truth of her superior power in relation to us, as delegated by Trump through his agency and her degradation. That degradation is required of his underlings. Eat shit or get fired.
Anyway, this is literally not Sarah’s job and Trump is SWORN NOT to do what he is doing but that is in the “real” world, as opposed to the myths they inhabit and convey in the only way that they can, symbolically. None of the rules apply in that place, which is maddening to us (but reassuring to them) because the underlying message is so repetitive and has no actual content. It is descriptive of a structural state of affairs. “I am sucking Trump’s dick right now and that cannot be interrupted, so, how dare you...” That is the actual content of every press briefing at the White House.
Get over it. Sarah: “I am humping Trump right now and it is required, 24/7, or I lose my job and the opportunity to help hurry along the end-times and the advent of Jesus riding in on a cloud, never mind, since he was already saved by my daddy, that my inbred brother hung a dog from a tree...” Now, this might blow your mind but it is evidently normal in Arkansas, at least among Huckabees. It was a normal part of Trump’s upbringing, that behavioral standards are meaningless and that he was above being judged. We see it still. Having to answer to anyone is for little people. Similarly, Sanders answers only to God.
I don’t mean to pick on Sanders unreasonably. I’m sure many other instances of this seeming insanity of symbolic communication are occurring to you but Sarah is a good, and possibly limiting-case, example. She is therefore useful in understanding the horrific, degraded message emanating from the entire Republican machine and bureaucracy in Washington these days, from the Supreme Court on down, that they are all sucking Trump’s dick for a living. That’s it, the beginning and end of the message. Effectively, to us, “fuck off, we're in the middle of something here."
As unbelievable as it might seem, this is our reality, and the result of having treasonous, ill-meaning scum as fellow citizens. We can only go forward once we have accepted this, as a precondition of communicating with Republicans. Though, you can see now that the ONLY thing they have to communicate is their degradation, so, if I were you, I wouldn’t bother.
