Trump is such an outlier and an established pig. Sanders, however, comes as a bolt, a jarring indication that we are not and probably never were the people we thought we were. But Sanders didn’t spring from the head of her father, a fully-formed Huckabee, in the lying armor of unreason.
She evolved into it. There was a series of simple decisions, largely cultural and made for her. Escape would have been difficult, especially in her family. They are stewards of self-righteous insanity and resentment. The decisions appear like gates—prejudicial, narrowed, and not reflecting reality.
There is no scope. Everything is reduced and binary. Is Sarah a good person? Yes, she thinks, but not because she behaves. She is special, chosen by Christ. Try to buck that identification in her world. She chooses to be “saved” as not a matter of behavior but of identification—the big choice.

She made simple choices sequentially and adopted prevailing attitudes among people who have no idea how rooted it all is in racism and bogus religious doctrines relating to that.
