The Golden Ass (Apologies to Apuleius)

The novelization of Trump's life will surely be picaresque. I don't know how else you could portray it. He is a waif and a naïf, in his own way. An innocent, like Candide, but an unbelievably destructive one.

That's one way innocence can play out, another side of cluelessness. Privilege and poverty have in common disconnectedness. Trump's life is episodic, a series of misadventures, from which he learns nothing.

He only experiences. It's a quest for self-discovery, his own humanness, which fails. It turns out he's not human at all. He's an ass, in spite of being a Republican. He's a golden ass, for what that's worth.
