Trump the Great, leader of the tribe of the Morons, conquered his own country through vanity and stupidity and not in spite of it. He wasn't a military leader or anything, really, but an oaf, a buffoon, a bully, a braggart, an opportunist and a charlatan. The times encouraged and created such a character. He would have failed utterly on his merits in another place and at another time. He was a reflection of cultural developments. It was a new dark age.
An age that favored the channeling of resources over productivity, marketing over making, and the rise of the idiot sons of wealth by monetary inertia in a society drunk on resources.
This society rewarded drive and remorselessness over talent and subtlety of intellect. There was plenty of those but they were routed by the barbarians. In fact it was a clumsy, backward, anti-intellectual age. In addition heathen and murderous apostates claimed religious sanction and supernatural authority in a brazen inversion of all doctrinal precedence and tradition. Decency fled in horror. Trump's forces won by virtue of being insane and destructive.
