One way to understand the Republican project is as the rebuilding of society's nut biome. That is, rebuilding society's resistance to unconstitutional, anti-democratic, irrational and treasonous elements by introducing these into the system, as a kind of inoculation.
Think of it as introducing potentially harmful bacteria, viruses or germs for good purposes. Newt Gingrich, for example, is the last thing you want in your politics. But people such as him are out there, harmful and possibly fatally toxic, so better to be prepared.
Indigestible, he produced a Montezuma's Revenge -- the 'Newts,' as it's known.
And the U.S.A. is still shitting its brains out -- depleted, dehydrated and weak, our vitality sapped. This is assuming Republicans mean well at some level and are a little paranoid and not actually trying to destroy us with finality. Now, this is giving them a hell of a pass.
Because the system appears about to die. Democracy is on life support.
But it's so ridiculously crazy and seems so unnecessary. Like everyone else I'm trying to understand it. The alternative is to think they are purely evil. That Republicans are just pure evil and actually want to destroy us and everything. But this is so incredibly crazy.
Bugs don't make sense. They're out there, and only intent on replication.
We weren't over Newt when other pathogens arose. Notably, Trump and the tyranny bug. We thought we had inborn immunity. It turns out not. It seems they want to kill us, or take the whole country down for no reason. That they are the bug. And like any brainless microbe.
So, there's no conscience. And no humanity left to recover.
