The Defensive Aspects of Exceptionalism

There’s more to exceptionalism than parading around like God’s gift. There’s a defensive aspect to it. How do Americans explain that, when you cross the border into Canada, you’re in another world?

They can’t. They won’t. They don’t explain it. They deny. Whatever WE are it’s better, BY DEFINITION. See how this fits with racism? Some people are better than others, de facto. Behaviors don’t enter into it.
